The next morning when I woke up, I finally felt like I got a good night’s rest.  When I opened my eyes, I noticed that Loki was no longer beside me on the bed.  Leaning up to stretch, I didn’t see Toby sleeping beside the bed.

“Maybe he’s in the living room.”

After a few more stretches I went into the bathroom to freshen up and then walk towards the living room where I found Toby eating out of his dish, and Loki fumbling with something in the kitchen.

“Good Morning,” he greeted with a smile.

“Yeah, good morning.”

Toby rushed over whining for me to pet him.  I kneeled down to give him his morning scratches.

“Good morning to you too bud!”

He licked my face lovingly, then went back to finish eating.  Wiping a bit of slobber away from my face, I walked over to Loki who was grabbing some eggs from the fridge, and touched his back.  Loki turned to engulf me in his arms and pull me into a gentle kiss that I happily reciprocated.  When he pulled away he gave me a soft smile.

“Sorry you woke up alone, but Toby over there insisted that he be fed.”

“Thank you, and not just for feeding him, but for last night.  It was one of the best night’s of sleep I’ve had.”

“Glad to be of service.”

“So, are you volunteering to make breakfast?”

“Well, I felt that you deserved to have something prepared for you in return.”

“Did they teach you how to cook at that big palace in Asgard?  I mean I would think that a prince wouldn’t be making his own food.”

“Haha, very funny.”

“It is funny,” I chuckled while taking a seat on a barstool.

“Especially coming from a girl who had a handmaiden raise her.”

“Hey, Maria was not a handmaiden, she’s family.  Given that she worked for Tony to take care of me, she still tells me to this day that I was like one of her own children.”

“Reminds me of my mother,” he started while scrambling up some eggs.  “She accepted me and raised me as her own child knowing that we had no blood relation.”

“You and your mother must have been very close,” I muttered.

“Closer than I was to my fa—Odin.”

I could see physically Loki did not like to speak of Odin, his adoptive father.  At times, I understood how he felt, but then again I wasn’t lied to about who I was.

“Loki,” I beckoned.

He nodded his head letting me know that he heard me.

“Even though it may mean nothing, Odin probably still loves you.”

He responded by snorting and shaking his head.

“Maybe you don’t believe me, but just like you, people can change.”

“Intelligent people can change,” he said while placing a plate with breakfast on it in front of me.  “Not bullheaded All-Seeing Gods.”

I reached out to touch his hand before he pulled away.  Though arrogant, he still feels unloved by others, but he shouldn’t feel that way with me.  He leaned over the bar to try and get closer to me; just as his lips ghost over mine, the phone rang.

“That’s not mine,” he mumbled.

“I got it.”

Pulling away, I grabbed my phone that was charging on the counter.

“Hello?  Yeah I’m up.  Meeting, alright we’ll be there soon and there’s something that I need to ask you too.  Don’t try to get out of it Fury!  Alright, bye.”

“I’m assuming that we need to go in,” Loki stated.

“Yeah, he’s calling an early meeting for some new intel about Hydra.  Maybe with this new info, we can locate Jackson.”

“I should go and get ready,” he said while leaving his unfinished plate.

“Hey wait let’s finish; we’ll just be fashionably late,” I smirk.

“Ella, you are more trouble than you deem yourself to be.”

“Isn’t that why you love me?”

Loki approached me at the bar, I turned around to face him, and he place himself before me while placing his hands on my waist.

“So you did hear me last night, and deliberately didn’t answer me,” he growled possessively.

“Maybe,” I put up a good front but I was blushing.

“Well then,” his hands gripped me a little tighter, not enough to hurt but to let me know of his want, “what punishment should I give you for ignoring me?”

“I feel I should be rewarded for deceiving the All-Mighty God of Mischief.”

I smirked while wrapping my arms around his shoulders and playing with his hair at the nape of his neck.  He bit back a purr, since I knew he loved when I played with his hair.

“You will have your reward,” he said dangerously close to my lips.

He leaned lower to place soft kisses on my neck, making me moan to his menstruations, and his slender fingers slowly teased by stroking my hipbones causing my breath to hitch slightly.  Suddenly he pulled away.

“H-hey, what are you doing?!” I blushed while trying to scowl at him.

Loki smirked while walking back over to where his plate sat on the other side of the bar.

“Punishment first, then reward later.”

“You can’t do that!”

“I just did love.  Plus, we must get ready for this meeting and I should probably go back to my apartment to freshen up.”

I pouted slightly at him, and I saw a twinge in his eye, he hates when I pout.

“Don’t look at me like that.  We’ve talked about this before but you were worried about when the children are here.”

“Yes, but they are not here right now, and I’ve talked to Maria and she likes you.”

Loki put his plate in the sink, then walked back over to me to peck my lips softly.

“I’ll pick you up to go to the meeting, and we’ll talk more about it later.”

“Alright.  See you in a bit.”

“We’ve found more of these so-called raptors being stationed on an island in the Pacific.  However, they seem to be evolving,” Fury explained.

“Evolving?” Bruce questioned.

Fury brought up footage of the creatures.  Their heads were curving upward as if their brain cavity had grown, and their eyes were slightly bigger, while their build seems bulkier.

“I feel like I’m looking at Alien,” I comment.

“Chitauri creatures are highly adaptable beings.  With every battle they grow stronger unless they are killed,” Loki explained.

“How are they still being bred?” Tony asked.

“As of right now, we don’t know the distinct location of where they are being bred.”

“But how can they be transported to different locations without being noticed?” I ask.

“The only logical reasons are air or submarine, especially if they are transported from islands and different countries.”

“But someone has to have clearance to get past US and other government embassies to clear their areas,” Natasha added.

“That’s where Jackson comes in,” I muttered.  “High ranking officers such as him can get clearance anywhere because of his General status.”

Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.  Without looking I clicked the power button to stop the call so I could pay attention to the meeting.

“We need you to investigate the island and determine if that is the breeding place for these creatures and we destroy it.  If we can destroy the factory for these beasts, Hydra won’t have a serious weapon against us.”

Again my phone went off and I hung it up.  Just as it went to voicemail it rung again.  I took it out of my pocket to see it was Maria calling me.  I quietly excused myself then answered the phone.

“Hello?”

“AUNTIE HELP!!!  PLEASE HEEEELP!!”

My heart jumped into my throat.

“Stark, we’re still talking here!” Fury exclaimed.

“Marissa what’s going on?!”

“HELP!! HE HURT MY MOMMY!!”

“I’m on my way baby girl okay?!  Just take your brother and Izzy and lock yourself in a room!  I’m on my way!”

I turned around and rushed towards Tony and hastily searched for his phone in his pockets.

“Hey!  What are you doing?!”

“Give me your phone!  Call an ambulance!”

“What’s going on?!” he questioned.

“Call a fucking ambulance and send them to Maria’s house NOW!”

I turned and ran out of the meeting room at full speed trying to get Marissa to calm down.

“It’s okay baby girl, I’m on my way!  Please just hide with your brother and Izzy!  It’s gonna be okay!”

“AUNTIEEEEE!”

“Marissa, what’s happening?!”

I could hear a muffled male voice yelling as if it was behind a door.

“Ella!”

I turned around to see Loki running towards me; I stopped to that I could run over to him and I grabbed onto his shirt.

“Take me to Maria’s right now please!”

“Calm down, see it in your mind!  Close your eyes and focus!”

I did as he told me and visualized Maria’s house in my head.  Suddenly, we were encased in a gust of wind and within a blink of an eye we were in front of Maria’s house.  I ran into the house where I saw Cristela on the floor unconscious and I could hear Maria in another room arguing with someone.

I ran as fast as I could to the other room to see a man punch Maria to the floor.  Losing my temper I launched out at the man, grabbed his head, and started slamming it into the wall.  He was able to punch me under the ribs and kicked my knee out.  Once I hit the floor, I pulled out my gun and turned it on the man but he kicked it out of my hand and pinned me down.  Using the momentum I forced my knees up to flip him on his back then blocked his arms with my knees and punched his face repeatedly.  He wiggled one arm free then I felt something nearby hit me over the head and I rolled off of him to the other side of the room.  My vision blurred for a moment as I saw the man lift some kind of bat to hit me but I drew my gun and shot it out of his hands and he fell down.  I pointed my gun at him and he pulled one on me.  Getting a closer look I realized who this was.

“Eric.”

“Hah, so you are still around eh?”

“What the hell are you doing?  This is your family!”

“Shut up!”

He took a shot at me and I was able to duck out of the way and roll onto my feet.  I took a shot at his hand to disarm him.

“There are children here!  What the hell is wrong with you?!”

I searched his eyes and found how glazed they were; he was high, and it was a heavy high.  He’s not thinking straight at all.

“What’s wrong is how you continue to think that you are better than everyone else.  You’ve convinced yourself that you’re making a difference!”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“You and the Avengers; you all can’t save this world.”

I heard something from behind me down the hall, and it did not sound friendly.

“You’re—”

“With Hydra.  They pay me more than the streets do any day.”

“You would sacrifice your family to help those who would kill innocent people, all for drug money!”

“This world is coming to an end and we need real leaders with vision,” he growled.

I cocked my gun ready to shoot; I promised Cristela that I wouldn’t ever kill this man because she loved him, but now he’s hurt her and is trying to hurt the kids now that crosses the line.

“If you shoot me, this bomb,” he opened his jacket, “will blow and I will take all of you with me.”

“Eric, let’s just stop this now.  Calm down okay, you are high, let’s just talk this out and not do anything stupid.”

I heard Maria groan from the floor; at least she’s alive.

“Eric, there are children here who are crying for their father to stop.  Please Eric, don’t do this.”

“No, this is how it has to be.”

“Ella duck!” Loki called out.

Trusting my instinct I ducked and just as I heard the click of the button on his vest it was gone.  Looking up, I saw that both men were gone and the sounds of sirens were coming close to the house.  I kneeled down to check on Maria, and she was barely breathing then she started to shake.

“Maria, Maria esta bien.  Vas a estar bien,” I tried to get her to respond.  “¿Puedes escucharme?”

I tried to hold her shaking until the medics came in and asked me to step back.  Though hard, I was able to pull away and rush to the back bedroom where I believe the kids were hiding.  Once in there I ran over to the closet hearing the muffled cries.

“Marissa!  Izzy!”

“AUNTIIIIIEE!!”

They rushed out into my arms both crying at the top of their lungs.  I pulled them closer into my arms trying to soothe both of them.  Rubbing their heads I tried to rock them to calm them down.

“Marissa honey, where is your brother?”

“H-he’s in t-the c-closet…” she sniffled.

“Okay, just stay right here.  I’m going to get him.”

I put both girls on Maria’s bed and then walked over to the closet to see little Raphael place on a pile of blankets, starting to sniffle.

“Shh, shh, it’s alright I’m here, I’m here.”

I coddled the small baby and walked back over to the girls when a few medics came into the room.

“Is everyone alright?” he asked.

“For right now.”

“We’re going to need to take the children for examination.”

“Just give me a moment to calm them down please.”

The medic nodded and left the room and I went back to tending the children.  The girls were sniffling while I was rocking the baby to make him go back to sleep.  After a while of calming them down, there was a knock of the doorframe then I looked up to see Loki.

“Are you all alright?” he asked.

Marissa sniffed but nodded slightly, Izzy just hid against my side.

“I’m sorry to interrupt, but the medics are requesting to see the children.”

“Auntie, stay with us,” Marissa begged.

Izzy just cuddled into my side while whining.  I kissed their heads and slowly stood up.

“I will not leave you, I promise.  Just let me and Loki take you to the doctor so they can make sure you’re healthy.”

“Am I gonna get a shot?” she asked.

“I’ll make sure you don’t okay?”

“Do you want me to take him?” Loki asked.

Gazing up at him, I noticed the concern on his face and I was glad that he was willing to help.  I handed him Raphael and Loki was gentle in cradling him while I picked up Izzy and took Marissa’s hand.

We walked out of the room and out to the ambulance; walking down the driveway, I noticed that there was a tarp covering something on the lawn and I caught a glimpse of a tail while SHIELD agents surrounded it.

“Is that—”

“I’ll tell you later,” Loki whispered.

We loaded the children into the ambulance and the medics let me ride with them to the hospital.  It was going to be a long night.

“Daddy,” Izzy cried.

“I know baby,” I kissed her head.  “I know.”
